The real power of the mind

Friday, November 27th, 2009

It doesn’t really matter what method you use to access the Subconscious mind, whether you use ThetaHealing™, NLP etc, the most important thing to know is how it works. Vianna Stibal teaches that the Subconscious mind believes that every belief within it is there to serve, protect or enhance your life  in a positive way. By its way of thinking there is nothing negative in it at all. It is not until the belief is communicated at the Conscious level that we realise how negative some of our beliefs really are.

Many people will ask why can’t we just remove and resolve all negative beliefs within our Subconscious mind with one command. Well, if you believe that you can then go for it. The thing to remember is that the Subconscious mind thinks that it is helping you and has no real judgement of positive or negative. So maybe if you were to make that command then there would be no result. The negative beliefs will not be apparent until they are filtered by your Conscious mind.

People will use affirmations at the conscious level to try to initiate change in their life. Affirmations target the Conscious mind in order to ultimately access the Subconscious mind. Repetition is the key to the affirmation being successful, with the affirmation needing to be repeated up to thousands of times to get into the Subconscious mind. Below is a diagram that represents the mind (courtesy of Paul Blackburn), that shows how much of our thinking is influenced by each part of our mind. The Conscious mind is approximately 10% and the Subconscious mind is a whopping 50- 60%. That explains that despite all the positive thinking, we still do behaviours and have beliefs that are not in our higest and best. E.g. Consciously we say ” I will not eat chocolate, I will not eat chocolate…”, Subconsciously we are saying “Chocolate makes me feel better, I want some now”, and before we can catch up with what is going on, we have a piece of Chocolate in our mouth. What the…Why?? Well it is obvious, 50 -60% will beat 10% any day of the week.

The real power of the mind

But what if there was a way to get any affirmation into the Subconscious mind the first time it is said, thus giving the 10% more leverage. Well there is a way and what we are talking about is ThetaHealing™. We can download beliefs and feelings into the Subconscious mind as well as remove limiting or negative beliefs in an instant. ThetaHealing™ is such a versatile technique that can make real and lasting change in a person’s life.

In ThetaHealing™ we use a basic Kinesiology Technique called “Muscle Testing” to check whether a person has a belief within their Subconscious mind. There was a ThetaHealing™ teacher that would muscle test whether a certain belief was in fact the “bottom” belief. Unfortunately there is a real flaw in this model, and that is if you give the Subconscious mind any opportunity to escape … it will! So the answer would always be “Yes, this is the bottom belief”. They would then change the “bottom” belief but the true bottom belief would be left in place, so realistically the person did not receive a full healing.

Our mind is more powerful than most people give it credit for. How many times have you become sick just before an appointment or course that was going to change your life? That was your Subconscious mind keeping you “safe”. What about people who get laryngitis just before a big presentation. Again, the person is being kept “safe”.

Whatever we say we are, we are! Have you noticed that people who say they can’t remember people’s names, can’t. People who say that they are bad with money, are. What are you feeding your Subconscious mind? Isn’t  it time that we changed our mental nutrition.

Healing Modalities: Who’s really the Healer???

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

When a healing is done, who is it that is really doing the healing? In ThetaHealing™ we are taught that we witness the healing, and God/ Creator (or Source, Universal Power, All That Is, Oneness etc) performs the healing.

During my time in the Spiritual Business world, I have noticed that in all healing modalities there have been people who break away from a modality, call it something different and then claim it is better or that is replaces the original modality. This is really peculiar behaviour, why does there have to be any comparison, competition or  replacement. If God is the one doing the healing, does it really matter what it is called. Is it the modality that heals the person or are we just looking for something to call it, or even taking the credit?

Everyday we are bombarded with claims from healers in all modalities that they are better than then everyone else, and they even claim that particular modalities don’t work. That is really subjective information. It may not have worked for them and maybe someone else that they know, but did it not work for everyone, no! These claims create fear in people and create thoughts of disbelief and even inadequacy, especially if you are doing a modality that is being called dangerous or redundant. But why are these claims even generated? Is it due to an over active Ego, or a need to save people from themselves.

If all healing modalities use the same universal energy then is there any real need to compare and compete? People are attracted to what they are attracted to, and disrespecting other modalities to make you look better, in fact makes you look worse. If you come from a place of abundance, then there is plenty for everyone, no matter what modality you do. If you come from a place of lack, or scarcity there will never ever be enough, not even for you! The choice is yours.

I appreciate that role of the witness is one of great importance, because without the witness the healing does not happen. And at the same time the witness is not doing the healing, so we are all important aspects of the healing process. I guess that I am really aware of my role and enjoy being an integral part of changing a person’s life. My Ego and I work together really well, they help me to get up in front of people and teach ThetaHealing™ , and then they are quiet when the healing is happening. This is a wonderful relationship.

On the point of Ego, I will say in my advertising that I am the first ThetaHealing™ Master in Australia, so is that an over active ego or a statement of fact? I know how I intend it to be taken, how people read it is ultimately up to them. I do not make the claim that I am better than anyone else, I am displaying a credential I am proud if. Remember, that being discharged out of the Army at the height of my career was devastating to me, so now I have something to be very proud of.  There is a huge difference between pride/ self-confidence and ego!

So now matter what modality/ modalities you choose to use in your journey, know that they are  perfect for you. You will not have to prove anything to anyone, unless you still need to prove it to yourself. By allow others to enjoy their journey, you will be able to truly enjoy your own journey.

ThetaHealing™ or Theta Healing – What is the difference??

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

What’s in a name? Whether people spell/type the word ThetaHealing™ or Theta Healing it  really doesn’t matter except of course that the founder Vianna Stibal has called it ThetaHealing™ and so I guess she is the one who knows better than the rest of us. Just one look at her website will clear up any confusion that anyone has.

Does it make a difference if people don’t spell it correctly? I guess that it would depend on what you want. Do you want someone who is in alignment with Vianna’s work or do you want someone who  spells the name of the modality however they want. Some would argue that this is just a petty issue but my question to them is, would this be acceptable  in any other modality e.g. Rei Ki, Pra Nic Healing, Hypno Therapy or Psycho Logy to name but a few. Some ThetaHealing™ teachers and practitioner’s can’t even get the spelling of Vianna’s name right. Again it looks like a minor detail but is it really?

In Australia, ThetaHealing™ is listed in Magazines as Theta which only contributes to peoples confusion of what it really is. I have had arguments with magazines that I have advertised in, to change the word to ThetaHealing™ with limited success because people are reluctant to change. Why, well apparently it was all set up too long go and no one apart from me has ever had an issue with it. So if something that was done in the past is wrong, it would seem by their thinking that we just have to get over it. I don’t think so!! There is a very simple concept that is ” if you don’t value it, either will anyone else”. So because I value ThetaHealing™ I will continue in my quest to have people spell it correctly, and one person at a time the change will happen.

This is why all too often ThetaHealing™ is compared to Scientology and other Theta brainwave techniques, because the name Theta is not an adequate descriptor, it is only a part of what we do. We utilise the Theta brainwaves to get ourselves into a Theta State and then we perform our healings whilst in this Theta State. Pretty simple really.

So when people ask me why I am so passionate about this issue, I will ask them why they are not? ThetaHealing™ was instrumental in fully turning my life around, and I truly appreciate Vianna for sharing this modality with the world, so I will represent this modality with the same appreciation and respect. Hardcore?? Probably! Do I know what I believe in and am passionate about? Absolutely! What is it that fills you with the same passion??

Expectations and how they influence the way we live our life

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Recently, I ran a ThetaHealing™  practice group on that very subject. Expectations seem to be a harmless enough thing to have or are they??

People in business and sales will use expectations as a way of motivating them towards success, e.g. I will be the number 1 sales person in my field by the time I am 30, or I expect that 30% of people I talk to will buy from me. But there is a darker side to the expectation that most people ignore. What about the sales person that expects the customer to hang up when they cold call them. This can be paralysing.

Let’s put this terms of our everyday life. From the very moment we are born, expectations are placed upon us. Or life is mapped out before us by our parents, the school system then locks us into an expedition of setting expectations that often stay with us for the rest of our lives.  Eventually as we grow up and strive to be independent, we sadly realise that we will probably never measure up to what was set for us so long ago. In everything that you do you will have some type of expectation invested in the outcome. I know that for a long time I expected to be bad at math. Why? Because I was told when I was at school that I would never make anything of myself and maths was beyond me.

All too often we find ourselves wanting to live up to someone’s (including our own) expectation of us, but have you ever thought about the struggle that we have living down to someone’s expectation of us. I once had a Grandmother that, from the day I was born, would compare me to my cousins and say that I would never make anything of myself. I grew up with that belief because it was all I ever heard. I would work extra hard to prove her wrong, but always in the back of my mind her words would be playing over and over. Anytime that I would do something in my life, I had the expectation of failure, and of never being good enough. Have I ever blamed her, absolutely not!  She is one of my many teachers, and now I have learnt the lesson, it is time to more on. My next teacher is waiting.

This belief had been a recurring theme throughout my life until I actually learnt to recognise these limiting expectations and by utilising ThetaHealing™ to change them in an instant. I am now free from my Grandmothers harsh words, free to be good at math and most of all free to be me.

I now am passionate about trying  doing new things just to see what I really am good at. I no longer have any expectations of failure or of F**king it up (this is one of the most common expectations that people have of themselves). I challenge you to see what expectations you have holding you back. We will revisit this topic in future posts, we have only just scratched the surface.

Discernment on what influences you

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

One of my favourite books starts with the quote:

Believe nothing. No matter where you read it, or who has said it, not even if I have said it, Unless it agrees with your own reason, And your common sense.    Buddha

That book is ThetaHealing by Vianna Stibal and that one quote has had a huge impact on my life.

As with anyone else on the Spiritual path, I have certainly attracted a multitude of people who want to tell me how to do things. And to start off with I was a very willing subject. I was “trying” to be a vegetarian, “trying” not to eat chocolate or drink coffee, in the process of “killing” my ego, and only having positive thoughts. Whew, it was so much hard work. I began to wonder if it was all worth it. But, I had a huge belief that I had to struggle, so a part of me was actually enjoying all the BS ( BS is either Belief Systems or Bull S**t, or both you can decide for your self). Also remember that I was in the depths of depression, so I was very vulnerable and had no self-worth what so ever, so I was like a giant super sponge.

I was transitioning from the Army, who always told me what to do , and when to do it, to now a life full of freedom and it filled me with immense fear. I was really open to people telling me what to do.  It wasn’t until I started my ThetaHealing journey that I started to get my brain back. It had been hiding away battered and bruised and seemingly unwilling to assist me in anyway. On my first ThetaHealing course I learnt to balance my brain chemistry, i.e. Seretonin, Nor Adrenaline, Dopamine etc, which allowed me to remain drug free. Whilst I was in the Army I had a horrific reaction to some antidepressants and I never wanted to take them ever again, so for me this was the attraction to do that course.

Also on the Basic ThetaHealing Course there is the DNA activation, which was life altering. I was better prepared to handle the toxicity of daily life and was able to recover from depression. Just a thought on recovery from diseases and disorders, people will always label themselves as a “survivor” but is that just limiting their recovery. I want to do more than “survive”, I want to  ”thrive” and I am.

So since starting my ThetaHealing journey I have learnt that I do not have to give up anything in order to get something else e.g. Coffee, meat, my physical health or anything else for that matter. I am very intuitive/psychic and I keep developing those skills on a daily basis. As I grow Spiritually I know that my desire for certain things deminishes, such as alcohol, but for me there is no substitute for chocolate. I believe that everything in moderation will lead to a harmonious thriving existence.

One more thought about having discernment on what influences us. I once thought that the words ”Follow your Bliss” by Joseph Campbell were so clever so I started living them, then one day it occurred to me that in following something you never quite reach it! So now I live by the words “Live your Bliss” by Pauline Longdon. This is a great example of discernment. Instead of taking a one size fits all appraoch to your Spirituality, take only what fits you as an individual and if you like something that doesn’t quite fit, change it not you! You are wonderful the way you are, you may need to move some junk out of the way so you can see it. ThetaHealing gave me the tools I needed to do just that and much, much more.

I am now great friends with my ego, I eat chocolate, I am very psychic/ intuitive and I am living my bliss. I have the discernment to know what I need in order to grow Spiritually. My life is brilliant because I choose it to be that way. If I can do this, I am sure that anyone else can.

It’s Your Life, You Choose!!!

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

How many times in your life do you remember thinking that everything was out of your control? I can remember too many times to list here. All too often I would just say to myself that I was being flexible and “going with the flow”, but I was seriously deluding myself. It just kept me from making a decision to commit to something that I would probably just end up ruining. It was such a life-preserving pattern that was apparently keeping me safe. The only problem was, it wasn’t. In the Military, I was so flexible that I was called upon to do things that others wouldn’t. I saw this as being of service and eventually I would be rewarded for it. This never happened, but what did happen was that I constantly expected to rise to the occasion, a type of performance punishment, until I was totally burnt out. That was a very scary day indeed. I had seen myself as most Military people see themselves, six-foot tall and bulletproof, but on this day I was just over five foot tall and not even waterproof. That was the day that I owned up to my depression. It would be over one and a half years before I would feel secure enough to own anything or even take responsiblity for any aspect of my life. My depression consumed every aspect of my life and numbed me from my harsh reality. I guess that if I had been able to really feel the pain of my life, the outcome would have been a very different one. Maybe it was that numbness that helped me on to my spiritual path. The thoughts such as “I have nothing left to lose…” and “they already think the worst of you…” were main players in my search for alternative treatment. I used ThetaHealing™ to not only get me out of depression but to continually change my negative, ineffectual beliefs as they presented themselves, into positive, empowering beliefs that allowed me to take responsibility of my own life and ultimately my own reality. This has made a massive difference in my life to the extent that my compensation claim for major depression was actually rejected because the Military Specialist could see no evidence of depression. I had done so much work on changing beliefs and healing myself that I didn’t receive any monetary compensation. Was I upset at this? Absolutely, but I had two choices, either fight for what I thought that I was entitled to, or take it as a compliment that I did some awesome healings and get on with my life. And that is exactly what I chose to do! So what do you choose in your life? Do you merely survive or do you thrive? Who is responsible for your life? If the answer does not have your name in it, you have some work to do.

Finding ThetaHealing, the journey begins…

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

New to the world of blogging this is going to quite a journey. But you know, I have been through worse and this is the inspiration behind this blog. We all have our own individual stories of how we got here and I will slowly share with you mine, and I would like to hear about yours.

In 2005, I was discharged from the Australian Army with the diagnosis of Major Depression.  There were may things that lead to this situation but looking back now I would not change anything that has brought me to now. The thing with depression is that people can’t see what is broken. With a broken leg you have a cast, with depression you have nothing so people do not believe you. So most of the time I suffered in silence, fearing the inevitable prospect of being discharged with no hope for the future. My body  had a horrible reaction to Antidepressant and counselling was to stop at my discharge. I felt like I was being discarded like human rubbish after a career where I would have died for my country, this was the thanks I received. Discharge day came and went without any cause for celebration or acknowledgment for all I had contributed, 14 years of my life finished with nothing to look forward to.

About a month before my discharge I had a breakthrough which was totally unexpected. I had been given a book to read. Now I need to explain that depression and reading for me did not mix well. I had lost most of my confidence and concentration to the degree that I could not read, write or speak unless it was absolutely necessary. So to be given a book is not anything special, but to read that book was a miracle. The name of the book … “The Care and feeding of Indigo Children”, by Doreen Virtue. This book started an avalanche of personal growth that has no sign of stopping even now.

So what was so special about this book, well it was like an operating manual for my life. It answered questions that I had been asking all my life. It prompted me to search on the internet for more answers and totally lead me to ThetaHealing™.

It was through these tools that I slowly started to relearn, recreate and eventually reclaim my life. Was ThetaHealing™ the only thing I found, absolutely not, was it the one that worked the best, absolutely!!

And this is what this blog is all about. My journey from the darkness and despair of depression to becoming Australia’s first ThetaHealing™ Master. Have I stopped there, hell no!! Recently I was awarded a ThetaHealing™ Certificate of Science and the journey continues. I am passionate about ThetaHealing™ and passionate about informing people who want to know about how this amazing healing modality can change their life in ways that have only dreamt of.

I would like to end this post with a quote ” Believe nothing. No matter where you read it, or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason, and your own commonsense. Buddha”

So to that end if what is written in this blog inspires you, awesome. If it does not, thank you for reading and your time.

Love and Gratitude,

Pauline Longdon
